• Perhaps but if Apple actually meant what they seemed to imply by "Top Secret" features, then would it not be possible that Apple is holding this off for a future OS? I mean come on, just like Benji pointed out with the iPhone 3rd party apps, could it not be the same for Mac OS X? Did Apple ever say that these Top Secret features are going to be in Leopard? It's also possible that they wanted to make sure these features work very well before being released. Besides, Vista was harldy something revolutionary but they were just waiting for the worst situation. If Vista actually did good, then they would may have been pressured to release those secret featues. Just my 2 cents
• Beeblebrox, i am curious. Why can't you just call them Mac-fanatics? Mac-tard is shorter i suppose? No offense, but you are not promoting a balanced discussion if this is what you are set out to do. I could understand if you are frustrated. Plus, you're getting my statement all wrong. I agree that it's partly apple's fault and they should be more humble. That part that i don't agree with this article is that ALL the blame is on apple.

• "No.  I’m wondering why people who aren’t Windows developers have to shut up when criticizing Apple, but people who aren’t Windows developers can criticize Microsoft to their heart’s content". That was a mistake of being clear on my part and i rephrased my statement later. Is this something to be offended about? Is being told to shut the hell up offensive?  To some.  But so is being called a Mac-tard I’m sure.  I’m not offended at being told to shut the hell up." It seems you just took parts of my argument and ignored the others. I never said to shut "the hell" up. I just said to stop complaining. Basically, you are using a straw man argument by trying to make my position sound worse. I would never say such a word as "the hell". That is brings offensiveness to people. I just said to shut up. Sure, i probably should've said please. "Btw, the severity of the virus is irrelevant.  When Jobs talks about the security flaws of Windows by pointing to 15 billion viruses, he doesn’t make any distinction between the ones that are really malicious versus the ones that he delivered to users via a bunch of iPods.  So making that distinction to defend Apple is hypocritical." Jobs doesn't need to since it's not a show about windows bugs/viruses. He just wishes to mention that Macs are more securer. It's actually VERY relevant to the topic we are discussing. If you will, i'll use the "analogy" that was used here. "Recently, there was an outbreak of E. Coli in the United States- bags of spinach across the country were recalled and the questionable spinach was traced to a region in California. How would you have felt if you had E. Coli poisoning- or worse, died- and all the farmer responsible said, “There is E. Coli in our spinach and we are really upset that human bodies are not more strong and healthy to protect against these things.”" First, what was the cause of that spinach? It should be noted that Apple develops, but doesn't "grow" things which makes it quite different. Microsoft, a multibillionaire company has the money to fix such viruses. Also, just how long has this virus (RavMon.exe) been out and known? Does this virus do any damage to someone's computer? If so, to what extent is this virus damageable? One could say that they had some slight coughing and runny nose but nothing serious! So why hasn't Microsoft patched this? In my opinion, it's good to show that Microsoft should put more effort into security.

• "Uh huh. Are you Windows developer? ‘Cause unless you’re a Windows developer, then you should shut the hell up. Isn’t that what you said?" Are you just up for debate? Cause it seems you have a extreme hatred eh? Is this something to be offended about? "I didn’t realize that telling people to shut the hell up for criticizing Apple was considered mature discussion. Duly noted. And btw, a Mac-tard is not the same as a retard. A Mac-tard would be someone who, hypothetically speaking, tells people to shut the hell up if they bash Apple unless they’re a Windows developer, but holds no such standard for those who bash Windows." I never said "shut the hell up" but just don't make such a big fuss about it. I'm not putting down microsoft as the way others do. Well, it appears you use it in a different way. I've heard people use Christ-tard before. You should use a more appropriate term. I didn't make myself clear. Depending on how this "virus" came about, it would be rather difficult to make everything work for windows. If you are a windows developer then you would understand. So, i suggested that people stop complaining at apple bringing Microsoft picture. Now, i agree that they should've mentioned themselves first which is a rather good point. Again, do you have any info as to how this virus came about and what it does?

• "I wonder if this idiotic principle holds true for the legions of Mac-tards who regularly criticize Windows for being so vulnerable. Are you out there telling them to shut up because they aren’t developers for Windows?" We criticize because it's obvious that it is vulnerable. It's funny how you like to put names on others. Since when did i ever call anyone a retard yet you insist on a childish discussion? I'm telling people to shut-up about apple mentioning Microsoft. It was their mistake and i don't deny that they should've been humble. Again, just how serious is this virus exactly?

• *cough*. I mean, "If you are not a windows developer then i don't think you should say anything".

• The point you seem to miss is that what type of "virus" is this? Many have windows have anti-virus software anyways so it's not a big deal. Microsoft should fix these bugs and do it quickly. "I understand that the second half of the sentence drew attention to themselves, but by calling Windows out first they put cheap shots before humility." Not ALL of the ipods have the viruses. This is not some major virus that people should be panicking about. They needed to mention the ridiculous instability of windows. It's true that they should've been more humble about it. Bringing microsoft into the picture is fine though. Do they ever learn from their past experiences? Many of the developers are not even careful. Look, this company has billions of dollars. If they don't want to use that money to fix viruses fast then that's their problem. At least they were upfront about it. You are not a developer for windows so i don't think you have much of a say as to why apple brought it up. Do you know how strong or weak this virus is? If not, then you shouldn't be making a freaking fuss over it.
