PowerBook G4 (12”)

Introduced: January 2003
Terminated: September 2003

Description

The PowerBook G4 (12”) was housed in an aluminum casing that was smaller than the compact 12.1” iBook.  It ran at 867Mhz and had 40Gb of hard drive space.  It had a slot loading Combo or SuperDrive and 128Mb of RAM.  The smaller case meant that a new motherboard design was used, so the PowerBook G4 (12”) had internal Bluetooth and supported AirPort Extreme.  It had a 32Mb NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics card, a mini VGA and composite audio/video ports.

History

The PowerBook G4 (12”) brought the compact size of the iBook to Apple’s professional line.  It was very similar to the larger 867Mhz PowerBook G4, but had several upgrades owing to the new motherboard design.  The single configuration was available for $1799.

  • This is the little brother of Powerbook G4 (15” Double Layer SD). Despite the lack of power (please agree with me on this), this laptop is functional and efficient. - Mario Romano

  • It looks okay, but I think this is not the right model for taking with you when you travel. For traveling you will need something slim and easy. Cazare Poiana Brasov
