The Apple /// was far ahead of its time. SOS was great. The computer needed a fan to keep the RAM from coming out of the sockets. I had one setup as a BBS in 1983. It ran 24/7 for 3 years and never shut off.
The trick was to cut one of the Apple // cooling fans from System Saver to fit on the right side of the computer where the power supply was. This kept the internal temp down and the Aluminum case cool. The 5MB hard drive was great, no one else had factory hard drives. The color monitors looked great too.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Dr. He had great ideas, just to many marketing folks directing the operation is probably valid. Dr did dump the bit slicing O/S that was originally running on the Apple /// , to complex and to slow.
